When you book on JWguest, you pay the host's price plus a Service Fee. Here's what it is and what it pays for.
How the Service Fee is calculated
The Service Fee is a percentage of the accommodation price. It is added on top of the price the host sets, and JWguest keeps it to run the platform. It is always shown to you before you send a booking request, together with the total you will pay. Where the law requires it (for example VAT in Europe), tax may be added to the Service Fee and will be shown separately.
What it pays for
- Payment processing: the costs of card payments.
- Payouts to hosts: the cost of transferring money from our bank to the host's bank.
- Legal compliance: every country has its own rules, and we invest time and resources to follow them.
- Running the platform: our team, the development of new features and the servers that keep JWguest online.
- Guest support: if a host is unavailable on check-in day, our team will make reasonable efforts to help you find suitable alternative accommodation.
- Handling refunds and cancellations: processing refunds and payouts according to the listing's cancellation policy and our Guest Refund Policy.
Currency conversion
If you pay in a currency other than the one the host uses, the conversion uses the exchange rate shown when you send your request. This rate may include a markup. Both the rate and any markup are shown before you send your request and on your receipt.
