About this accommodation

Entire first floor in a circa 1830 house, located on the Housatonic River, offers two bedrooms, a new bath, a dining area, and a galley kitchen with a single induction cooktop, a full-sized refrigerator, oven, and microwave. There is a coffee station, and varied electrical appliances too. Close to all Berkshire attractions and on a noted fly fishing section of the river, near golfing, hiking, kayaking, biking, and shopping. Three miles to the local grocery store & shopping on a bus route.

The Space

The entire first floor in a three story residential home is devoted to guests. The side porch has the host's entrance but there is a sitting area for guests at one end.

Guests are free to roam the property, fish or hunt for relics in the river depending on river conditions. The bank of the river is steep and rocky so you need to be sure-footed! Waders, water shoes or boots are necessary. The river has snapping turtles and other creatures living in it.
Enjoy the “unique” fire pit area, complete with benches, for a cookout, steak-on-a-stick, or just sitting around with a glass of wine. Kindling, matches and wood are available upon request. A gas grill is also available upon request.

Interaction with Guests

My husband and I reside upstairs on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Currently we provided shared living with an older gentleman who needs assistance. We are readily available to answer any of your questions or assist in anyway we can yet afford you with the privacy you desire. Keyless entry allows guest to easily check-in.

Other Things to Note

*Enough pantry items and other supplies such as toilet paper and paper towels are on hand to get you started but it is the guest’s responsibility to bring or purchase extras. I do supply decaf and regular ground coffee and regular instant. I also have decaf and regular tea bags. There is CoffeeMate for coffee, eggs and butter. Stop by the convenient grocery store for other needs only 3 miles from Rooms on the River.

As we live at the foot of a mountain and on a river, we do have an occasional bear, fox, or other wildlife passing through our yard, especially at night.

Rooms on the River is close to all Berkshire attractions and on a noted fly fishing section of the river, near golfing, hiking, kayaking, biking, and shopping. Three miles to the local grocery store & shopping.

Getting Around

Having a vehicle to get you from A to B is really desired in the Berkshires however we are located on a bus route that locally goes directly to the grocery store and then onto outlet stores. Buses also run to surrounding towns like Pittsfield or Great Barrington. Getting the bus is very simple - step outside and flag it down like a taxi!

About the Host, Casey

Besides theocratic activities, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, gardening, and chicken raising. I currently do not have any, but after a coop refresh, I hope to get some new girls. I enjoy having friends over for dinners or Broadcast nights, but I am a bit on the reserved side. I like company, but I don't mind being alone,e either. I would love to have a more off-grid lifestyle with rain barrels and solar or hydroelectric power, but some of that will have to wait, I'm afraid. My husband is a non-believer but is gracious and good to his friends. We have been hosting with Airbnb for 4 years now and enjoy doing that. Our client of 13 years with special needs has moved in with a new family as it was time for us to retire. Retirement has allowed me to do more in Jehovah's service.
