February 2019 - It only snows here a couple of times a year, but it's beautiful when it does. This February snowfall was unusually heavy. This view is from the main house deck. The cottage is at a lower level which gives you lots of privacy.

Here's the stairway leading to and from the cottage. Main house is shown above left. At the bottom of this stairway, there are 3 additional steps. At the top of this stairway there are 2 levels of 2 steps that cross the expansive deck. There are guardrails and lights at night.

Easy walk to the Neal Lane Covered Bridge. Built in 1939, it is the only covered bridge in the State to use a kingpost truss.

PRIVACY: the cottage can only be seen from the Golf Course Club House. See photo in the listing. However, you may see Ken or Anya working in the garden on the hill above the cottage, or relaxing on the deck.

NATURE at your doorstep: On our property, we have deer, (we have a doe that usually beds down with her fawns under the cedars just outside your living room window), raccoons, opossums, fox, the occasional skunk and there is a trail that the nutria take from the wetlands area between the cottage and the golf course that ends in your front yard. The frogs will serenade you in the evening during certain times of the year and the stars are bright. Birds are plentiful, from hummingbirds to Canadian geese. We have hawks, falcons, a number of small birds, and lots of wild turkeys.

AMENITIES: Free GIGABIT Internet access, streaming Internet, refrigerator (not tiny, but apartment-sized), microwave, induction cooktop with all pots, pans, and utensils.

DECOR: The cottage was built with a country/farmhouse style. It has Dutch doors, reclaimed gymnasium hardwood floors throughout, vaulted ceilings. There are cool stories behind everything inside.

2018 was our first year hosting travelers. We hope to make your stay comfortable and memorable! We love people and are friendly. However, we will respect your privacy at all times! On the other hand, if you'd like to share a cup of coffee sometime, come on up and say hello :)

ABOUT THE TOWN: Myrtle Creek has a motto: "Where nature is your neighbor." The town is nestled in one of Douglas County's more beautiful valleys right on the South Umpqua riverbank. It is also known as "The gateway to the 100 valleys of the Umpqua." It's a small, friendly community with small town appeal, but also modern with the times.

You may use the entire cottage and its yard. You'll park in front of the main house, then walk down the long stairway to the cottage. Please see photos of the stairway in our listing.
