Enjoy this mountain cabin close to downtown Boone, NC and nearby Blowing Rock, NC. The cabin can comfortably accommodate 4 adults with a total of 6 guests in 2 king beds and a set of twin bunk beds. The kitchen and downstairs bathroom have been recently updated and feature stainless appliances and a walk in shower. There's a play area upstairs with art easel, paints, books and toys. Relax indoors by the fireplace, playing a game or putting together a puzzle or outdoors in the hot tub or roasting marshmallows at the fire pit or reading by the frog pond waterfall. Let us know if you are celebrating a special event or anniversary. we offer a custom romantic package, charcuterie board with crackers or a custom pastry basket from the local bakery. Nearby activities include skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing in winter; hiking, ziplining, and river tubing in spring, summer and fall. You'll be close by the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain and Linville Falls.
The Space
The layout of the cabin is open. A private bedroom is located on the main level with a king bed and ensuite bath. The closet contains baby items such as a pack n play, a changing table and a high chair as well as safety gates. Upstairs the bedroom is in an open loft with the 2nd king bed, 2nd bathroom and a bunk bed with two twin beds. The play space has a play tent, art easel, dollhouse, wooden train set, Lincoln logs, dolls, and books. Downstairs the living room has a collection of board games and puzzles as well as a TV and an X-box and games. The kitchen is well stocked with a coffee bar, s'mores bar (hot cocoa bar added during ski season), pots, pans, dishes, utensils and small appliances. Out in the garage is a ping pong table which can be used anytime although it is not heated in winter.

Guests will have access to the cabin and yard except for one locked supply closet upstairs

I won't generally be on hand to welcome you however I am available to text if you need any help and I have a handyman who is able to assist as well.
Other Things to Note
Our check in time is 4 pm and checkout is 10 am. We send a message when the cabin is ready and you may check in even if it's earlier than your normal check in time (at no extra charge). Please note early check ins are not available when a guest is checking out the same day.
Although we do not allow pets at Laurelwood cabin, we allow service animals. As such, this home is not guaranteed to be an allergy free home.
For guests arriving in winter, early spring or late fall, please be mindful of the weather. The privately maintained gravel road leading tot he cabin has a lot of curves and is narrow in spots and may become ice. A 4-wheel drive or AWD vehicle is NECESSARY to access the cabin.
Free WiFi is included
A camer is located above the window to the right of the front door and a second camera is located at the side entry tot he right of the side porch. Views are of the porch, driveway and front yard only and the camera does not point to any interior spaces.
Wooded areas are homes to critters such as but not limited to diir, bear, squirrels, rodents, spiders, ants and insects. We are contracted with a pest control company with scheduled treatments; however, we cannot guarantee that any such critters will not be visible in or around the cabin.
To protect your vacation investment we encourage you to purchase travel insurance.

Getting Around
Although Laurelwood Cabin is convenient to both Boone and Blowing Rock, it is a true mountain cabin. State maintenance ends before you reach the cabin. The Sunset Acres neighborhood maintains the last part of the drive to the cabin, which is a steeper, less smooth gravel road. AWD or 4WD with good tires is necessary to access the cabin. Familiarity with mountain roads is definitely a plus!

I love the mountains and sharing our cabins with others! I also enjoy traveling, sitting on the beach, reading books, crocheting, and visiting family in Belgium. Favorite Bible study projects include zoom sessions going over the Watchtower lesson with my friend in Sweden, listening to the Bible, original music and morning worship talks while working and spending time attending meetings, conventions, assemblies and the ministry with my mom who moved in with me in 2025!
