Escape to Heart Valley Cabin, a secluded West Texas retreat tucked away on Terlingua Ranch in the heart of Big Bend country.
Surrounded by rugged desert mountains and some of the darkest skies in Texas, Heart Valley is a place to unplug, slow down and experience the beauty of the Chihuahuan Desert.
Sleeps up to 6 guests and makes a comfortable home base for exploring the Big Bend area by day and coming home to quiet desert evenings, incredible sunsets and star-filled skies.

The Space

Heart Valley Cabin is a comfortable two-bedroom, one-bath cabin with plenty of room for up to 6 guests.

The primary bedroom features a queen bed, while the second bedroom has a double bed and two sets of bunk beds—perfect for families or groups traveling together.

The kitchen is equipped for preparing meals with a stove and oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, pots, pans and basic cooking essentials. A dining table provides plenty of space to gather for meals, games or planning the next day’s Big Bend adventure.

The screened-in porch is a great place to relax and enjoy the desert surroundings. A grill is also available for guest use outdoors.

Across the road, guests are welcome to enjoy our fire pit and metal chairs—a wonderful spot to sit around the fire and take in the incredible West Texas night sky.

Guest Access

Guests have private access to the entire cabin, screened-in porch and designated outdoor areas, including the grill and fire pit across the road.

The garage and the private residence located up the hill behind the cabin are NOT part of the rental and are not accessible to guests.

You’ll have plenty of space to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings during your stay.

Interaction with Guests

Please Note: The property owner and primary host is a Jehovah's Witness. The co-host, Desiré, is not a Jehovah's Witness and assists with guest communication and property management.

Other Things to Note

Heart Valley Cabin is located on Terlingua Ranch in a remote part of the Big Bend region. Although our mailing address uses an Alpine ZIP code, we are not located in the town of Alpine.

Road Access: The cabin is accessed by a dirt/gravel road off the paved road. Please use good judgment and never attempt to cross flooded or unsafe roadways.

Water: Because of our remote desert location, we ask guests to bring plenty of drinking water for their entire stay.

Internet & Cell Service: The cabin has Starlink Wi-Fi, which generally provides reliable internet service. Cell service in this area is limited, so guests should not depend on a cellular connection while at the property.

Desert Environment: This is true West Texas desert country. Wildlife, insects, cactus, uneven terrain and other natural elements are part of the experience. Please use caution when outdoors, especially after dark.

Fire & Grill: The grill must be used outdoors and may not be used inside the screened-in porch. The fire pit is located across the road from the cabin and may be used when conditions allow. All burn bans and local fire restrictions must be followed.

The garage beside the cabin and the private residence located up the hill are not part of the rental and are off-limits to guests.

We recommend arriving before dark when possible and bringing groceries, drinking water and other necessities with you. Services are limited in this remote area, and being prepared is part of enjoying the peaceful, wide-open Big Bend experience.

Getting Around

Please keep in mind the remoteness of this area! Fill up your vehicles in Alpine before you drive south to get here, the closest gas station to us is roughly 25 miles from property.

I’m a laid-back person who loves the outdoors, especially the beautiful mountains and wide-open spaces of West Texas. Terlingua holds a special place in my heart—the peaceful desert, incredible night skies, and wildlife bring me so much joy.

I enjoy traveling, especially to quiet places where I can slow down, take in my surroundings, and appreciate Jehovah’s beautiful creations. Some of my favorite moments are simply being outdoors, enjoying nature and the peace that comes with it.

And when I’m home, I share my life with my husband and our little Yorkie, Kylie—although Kylie would probably tell you she’s the one in charge. 🐾😂
