Description

The Space

Enjoy your morning coffee on the front patio overlooking the white rose garden. Imbibe a sundowner on the front deck as you admire the orange and pink sunset colors. Soak your tired muscles in the oversized bath with bubbles up to your chin, book in hand, a glass of red on the bath stand. The first bathroom has a large modern Victorian-style slipper bath/toilet/basin. The second bathroom has a shower/toilet/basin. Spacious kitchen 5-gas burner hob and electric oven. Scullery with washing machine and dishwasher. Spacious lounge with large curved Smart TV equipped with Open View (OVHD), which is free. Dining table. The front patio is more private and has an elevated view of the garden... this is our favorite spot to sit and enjoy the evenings. Kindly note the Main House is not serviced (i.e., cleaned) daily. The cleaning fee in the booking charges is a one-time charge per booking for general cleaning at the end of your stay and the laundry costs. However, this cleaning fee does mean you are permitted to leave the house in a complete mess. Please ensure to clean up after yourself to a reasonable degree and wash your dishes before departure. WiFi unlimited complimentary use. Secure parking (maximum two vehicles) Excellent security for the house. Please note that we have 3 other rental units on the property. The main house is private and has its own space. However, as the other three tenants are close to the home, we ask you to please consider this before booking the house. The daily rate is negotiable depending on the length of stay & how many people are staying at a time. We do have a minimum monthly rate, which you are welcome to enquire about. Please feel free to chat with us about your specific needs.

Guest Access

You will have the main house and front garden patio entirely to yourself, and the garage is shared with the flatlet. Parking is off-street for one vehicle and inside the garage for one car, both on the right-hand side of the driveway. Please note that no parking on the left-hand side of the driveway is permitted: This parking belongs to a tenant. If you have any specific needs, please chat with us, and we'll try our best to accommodate you.

Ask us more about that if you're interested. - We also have access to accommodation through-out South Africa through a timeshare-program, which can provide you access to accommodation in almost every tourist destination spot in the country, including safari-type destinations like Kruger National Park.

The Neighborhood

The Westrand is a beautiful hilly part of the Witwatersrand. From many places, one can see the Magaliesburg, and a short drive takes one out into the country. If you would like some suggestions on attractions to visit during your stay, please feel free to chat with us, and we'll try to help you to plan your activities. One of our lovely restaurants is "The Diner" at 244 Voortrekker Rd, Krugersdorp, excellent food, great decor, vibe, atmosphere, extensive bar, excellent service, for us one of the better spots to visit in the area... it's not all burgers & chips; you'll likely be pleasantly surprised. Check them out on Zomato. Another is "The Rabbit Hole" at 33 Viljoen St, Krugersdorp, for the more quirky experience and pets inside the restaurant! They do pizzas and other meals that have the "home-cooked" vibe... The local enjoyable coffee spot is "Palet" Coffee Shop at the Crouse Art Gallery at 368 Ontdekkers Rd, Roodepoort (looks like nothing from the outside, little treasure inside with its shaded patio, garden & water feature, at least you don't have a view of a parking lot like many other coffee shops in the area). Another favorite is Vernadah Bistro for daytime and The Rabbit Hole for daytime and nighttime. 6.1 km from 1 Robert Broom Drive for those volunteering at that address, 9.3 km from the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, where the only mating pair of Black Eagles in the Roodepoort area can be found, with their new fledgling... take a look online at "Black Eagle Project Roodekrans" (black eagles) for more information. 5.3 km to Horizon View Shopping Centre where you can find Woolworths, Checkers, Checkers Liquor, PNA, Crazy Store, Nando's, and other takeaway outlets (sushi, fish, pizza, pasta), hairdressers, clothing shops, Vodacom store, etc. 3.6 km from Westgate Shopping Centre with its many varieties of stores, such as Woolworths, Checkers, Game, Food Lover's Market, Dischem, Clicks, Truworths, many other clothing outlets, and many takeaway places/restaurants like KFC, Wimpy, Spur, Ocean Basket, etc. 2.3 km to Princess Cross Shopping Centre where you can find a Pick n Pay Hypermarket, Dischem, Wimpy, Sheet Street, Waltons, Autopage Cellular, a McDonalds nearby, and a Fat Cake City.

About the Host, Shanna & Richard

Introducing Richard & Shanna. We look forward to being your hosts. We live between Cape Town and Johannesburg, with homes in both cities. We are both regular pioneers, and we volunteer at the Bethel South African Branch as commuters. Our current assignment is on the grounds of helping to care for the gardens. We also volunteer from time to time on LDC builds under the DC50 arrangement. Richard has the added privilege of serving as an elder in our congregation. We are passionate about exploring this wonderful planet earth. Things we enjoy are Music, movies, animals, hiking, the mountains, the ocean, beach sand, and swimming in the salty sea. Coffee and wine, good food, great friends, close family, fine dining, and of course, traveling. Shanna grew up in Cape Town, in the Constantia Winelands. Richard grew up in Rotterdam, Holland, and moved to South Africa in his teenage years. Life mottos: Do not go gentle into that good night. This, too, shall pass. Live and let live. As people, we are a combination of easy-going and accommodating, but we will stand for what is important. We are peaceable persons but warrior fighters for our cause. But what has that got to do with our hosting you? We're not sure, but maybe some of that will resonate with you, and you'll feel more at home with us when you allow us to host you. We have listings in both Johannesburg and Cape Town. Please feel free to enquire.
