Cette petite maison familiale présente une décoration décontractée typique des maisons de plage. Située dans un quartier résidentiel calme, elle se trouve à deux pas de l'accès à la plage de la 2e Rue et à 2,4 km de la jetée d'Avalon.

L'espace

There's a galley kitchen with a table and a small dishwasher. The newly renovated downstairs level features a spacious family room, a bar, a beverage fridge, and a large TV. The downstairs bathroom has a Soaking tub. Enjoy the outdoor shower. Our back deck is two-tiered with a crow's nest. The main deck includes an outdoor table, a Blackstone Grill, and seating areas. The master bedroom has a King king-size bed with a private 1/2 bath, two dressers, and a closet. The "Jamaica Room" also features a King-Size Bed, two dressers, and a closet. Our "bunkroom" for the kids has two twin-size upper beds and a Double lower bed with a desk area. The Bunkroom has its own TV. The comfortable living room has conversational seating and a TV.

We are a block's walk away from the beach in Kill Devil Hills. We are 1.5 Miles from Avalon Pier. There are two Grocery stores within walking distance and many more within a short drive. Other shopping stores in the area include Target, Walmart, and Belk's. There are many unique restaurants. Some of our favorites are Kill Devil Grill, Tortuga's Lie, Three Tequilas, Baja Beach Grill, Barrier Island Bagels, Jolly Roger, Awful Authors, and you have to try Duck Donuts. The coffee at Front Porch Cafe is great, and there are several local Starbucks locations.

Accès clients

All spaces are available. We have two locked areas, owner's closet on the main level and utility room/storage on the lower level. We don't have a beach umbrella, so you'll have to bring your umbrella to the tent. There is a beach wagon to haul items to the beach. Beach chairs are stored in the wagon which you will find in the lower level. as well. However, if you use something and break it, please replace it.

Below the back deck is a good sand play area for kids. Walk around behind the outdoor shower. There is a collection of sand toys from our grandkids. Feel free to take them to the beach, but don't forget to bring them back. There is also a hammock down there for napping in the shade!

Interaction avec les clients

We live in Michigan so we won't be able to interact with you during your stay. Lisa Lininger (long "i") is a local sister whom you can contact. Her number 614-286-2139. You can also text or email us if you need help with anything. We will have local handymen available if something needs fixing.

Autres choses à noter

There is a lifeguard stand at our beach access point. They will place flags to report swimming conditions. Red Flags mean do not swim because the undertow is too strong or there are strong riptides. They will also have a sign to report water temperatures and high/low tide times. The lifeguards will whistle you in if you go too far into the water. It's nice to have them to supervise our safety.

Incontournables du quartier

We recommend a Day trip to Roanoke Island, to the downtown Manteo area for shopping and food, or to the gardens or aquarium, which is not too big and easily navigated.

The airport on Roanoke Island also offers airplane rides over the outer banks. If you want to see a historical play, check out The Lost Colony. It is the tale of the original Roanoke Island Settlers.

Another fun Day trip is south to Cape Hatteras. You can stop at Bodie Island Lighthouse on the way and the Pea Island Wildlife Sanctuary. The Cape Hatteras National Seashore has the Hatteras Lighthouse, which may be open to visitors to climb. Great view from the top. Do some sea shelling down there on the south facing beaches, that's were the best shells wash up. You can even take a Ferry from Hatteras Island to Ocracoke Island to see a barrier Island in a more natural state.

Going north on the OBX is also fun. There's another lighthouse in Corolla. They also have wild ponies in that area. You might see some on the drive, but there are wild pony tours that you can take as well. There are many quaint shopping areas and restaurants in that direction, too.

If you want to enjoy some fishing, you will need a license. TW's bait and tackle in Nags head can set you up and tell you where the fish are biting. There's a fee to fish from the piers, but surf fishing from the beach is free. Oregon Inlet turned an old bridge into a fishing pier which is free to use. Oregon Inlet has the best fishing. You can also hire a charter there to go deep-sea fishing.

If you don't want to catch your dinner, Billy's Seafood in Collington or Austin's Seafood in Nags Head has a good variety of local seafood. They will steam your shrimp for you!

Don't forget to enjoy Jockey's Ridge at Sunset. Bring a kite to fly; it's a great place for kite flying. There's also the Wright Brother's Monument in Kill Devil Hills.

For non-ocean water play, there's a free splash pad in Kill Devil Hills on the by-pass by the fire station. The sound side is shallow and good for young swimmers. We love the H2OBX water park. It's off the OBX in Powell's Point, about 20 minutes away. It's great for kids and teens. They have a toddler swim area, as well as slides, obstacle courses, wave pools for the teens, and the Lazy River, which is more my speed.

Kill Devil Hills has a nice shaded walking park and Skate Park by its senior center. There are also pickleball courts. Dowdy Park in Nags Head is another good playground area with pickleball courts too.

There is no public transportation nearby. However, there are Uber and Lift drivers. If you want to rent Bikes, e-bikes, scooters, or golf carts, there are several different local rental companies.

Hello, it is nice to meet you. I grew up in Petersburg Virginia and I did not know Jehovah until I met a sister in 1991 who was an administrative assistant at the clinic in Michigan where I worked as a clinical psychologist. (I came to Michigan for a man I loved, but that's another story for later). I was drawn to her beautiful personality and her Christian integrity, and when she asked me to study, I was delighted! Three years later I was baptized. We moved from Ann Arbor to a small town in south Central Michigan, Marshall. Here, my husband and I (yes, that man I moved to Michigan for) raised my stepson, daughter, and son. The Marshall congregation was very small (59 publishers) but very loving and welcoming. I was there for over 20 years until we merged with the Battle Creek Congregations. That offered me more opportunities to make new friends! As I've grown to know and love Jehovah more and more, I have loved the ministry. After I retire, I hope to regular auxilary pioneer, if not full time pioneer.

I have always loved the Outer Banks of North Carolina. My family made annual vacations here as a child and teen. When I moved to Michigan, I discovered Lake Michigan, but, meh, it was not the Altantic Ocean! My parents purchased this cottage in 1991, the year that my daughter was born, to serve as a place for family gatherings since my two brothers and I had scattered across the midwest. Since I had given up the Holidays (another long story about my parent's reaction to my dedication to Jehovah), we made it a point to spend all summer vacations at this cottage to build family bonds between my children and their grandparents.

My parents have since passed, and now I am the grandmother! My children and their spouses helped my husband and I rehabilitated this small beach cottage to make Nana and Poppa proud that we are continuing the tradition of summer family gatherings at the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. We want to share the joy that we have experienced in coming here. The walks to Avalon Pier in early morning or at dusk are amazing. Don't be surprized if you see dolphins working the fish schools off shore. The Sound Side is "the baby beach" where we take our younger grandchildren to swim with shallow water and smaller waves. We have to hike up the Nags Head dune once each summer to fly kites and watch the sunset. Kayaking around the sound at Pea Island and paddle boarding are amazing! My son-in-law has followed my father's passion for fishing. It is so fun to watch his excitement about surf fishing or crabbing. And he brings home delicious catches! The midwest just does not have the seafood that we get down here. I imagine after reading this that you realize how much I love this place and I thank Jehovah for sharing this beautiful creation with us. If you love playing in the sunshine and being outdoors, Jehovah has made this spot on the earth for you!

When we travel, we love to spend time together as a family enjoying the outdoors and making memories. We love to be curious, explore the local culture and see new things. If its a garden or a hiking trail, you will find us there. We love acquariums too! These are the perfect opportunities to teach my grandchildren about Jehovah's creation and to see the blessings to come. To me, it's about being with the people that you love, no matter what the destination. Our family invites you to come, relax, and enjoy this beautiful spot on the earth.
